Stimulating Hair Regrowth Without The Use Of Steroids

By Ben Mester

No one wants to begin losing their hair. But a lot of people who are in that position don't like the idea of using hormone based products such as Propecia to stimulate hair growth. They would prefer to go a more natural route if feasible. But is the more natural path feasible for baldness? Do non-hormonal products really do the trick?

There are a couple methods for encouraging hair growth that appear to work well. One is the product minoxidil, which can be found mainly in the product Rogain. Minoxidil was initially employed as a blood pressure medicine ironically enough, till it was discovered that minoxidil pills caused the undesired side effect of hair growth throughout the body.

Because of this minoxidil is typically applied topically and not ingested. It stimulates healthier hair growth and also quicker growth. Another compound that stimulates hair growth is black castor oil. There are many hair products that now use black castor oil in their formula because it appears to have specific nutritional elements that the hair and scalp love.

You see, baldness is typically a mix of factors, and regularly, an unhealthy scalp is the root of poor hair growth. Black castor oil is reported to not only nourish the hair itself, but also the scalp. The scalp is a delicate region and can become unhealthy due to a lack of blood flow. Research has shown that absence of correct blood flow is at the root of a large amount of baldness problems.

That is the reason why another compound, nitric oxide, has also been shown to be useful in treating some forms of baldness. Nitric oxide dilates the veins and arteries and stimulates greater blood flow within the body. More blood flow means more nutrients, which can greatly improve the healthiness of the scalp. Taking one or more of these three non-steroidal compounds may just do the trick for you and help not only in growing more healthy hair, but also boost the healthiness of the scalp as well.
