Hair Loss: New Development Reported At International Hair Research Conference

By Dr Paul Conley

The 15th annual meeting of the European Hair Research Society (EHRS) has just taken place in Jerusalem, with over 400 attendees dedicated to debating about the latest findings in the world of hair loss and speculating the next step in the battle to treat baldness in both women and men.

According to the beauty and fitness site of Daily Glow, visitors to the event identified a desire to bring more awareness to the field of Trichology, which is the medical condition that studies hair growth, hair loss, and problems with hair.

"Trichology is a specialization of dermatology," declared Professor Abraham Zlotogorski, director of a leading Center for Genetic Diseases of Skin and Hair. "But there isn't even one country where it is officially recognised."

Hair Loss and Baldness Is A Rather Serious Condition

Although there is not any long-term physical consequence of hair loss and baldness, nor any complications that will arise from this basically cosmetic condition, the mental impact on some sufferers can be very serious. Zlotogorski clearly understands this from the patients that he sees, and understands the necessity for more investment in the field.

As well as presenting an inspirational call to arms for doctors curious about studying hair loss, Zlotogorski also provided an insight into state-of-the-art technology. He introduced a unique kind of dermascope that is designed expressly to check and diagnose hair illnesses. It is thought that introducing this device into common practice may help to identify the causes of hair loss and implement precise treatments that suit individual patients.

Hair Loss and Baldness - Clinically Tested Treatments

For anybody who is a victim of hair loss, there are a lot of existing treatments that could help to slow the loss of hair and even promote new growth. Medicines for example propecia treat alopecia hair loss and have been very extensively tested in tests.

Do you feel like the medical profession takes hair loss seriously enough? What affect has your hair loss had on your daily contentment and day-to-day life? It is only by completely understanding the effects of hair loss and balding men and women that the kind of care available can be made better.
