Hair Loss - Causes And Remedies

All over the world, people of all ages and both genders suffer from hair loss. There are various reasons behind hair loss. This article deals with the main causes of hair loss and how they are remedied.

Hair loss can result from an issue with hormones. In other words, hair loss - one of the leading causes of hair loss is the thyroid gland's over, or under-activity. In this instance, hair loss can be controlled by treating the thyroid disorder. In addition, hair loss can result from an imbalance of male hormones, or androgens or female hormones, or estrogens. Clinical treatment of hormone imbalance may stop your hair loss.

There are some instances where hair loss may occur with new mothers - women who have given birth three months prior. Again, hair loss in this case would have an affinity to hormones. A woman's increased hormone levels during pregnancy would actually prevent the hair from falling off while she is still pregnant. Because this is but a temporary increase in hormones, hair would fall off for a short period of time due to the normalization in hormonal levels. Hair loss is often induced by sulphur drugs or related medication. Simply not taking the medicine or completing your medication would stop this type hair loss. While there are many medicines that could induce hair loss, we have narrowed them down to a select few, such as antidepressants, birth control pills, vitamin A (only when taken in heavy doses), cancer treatments, including but not limited to chemotherapy, gout medicine and blood thinners, also known as anticoagulants.

People who are just coming off surgical operations or protracted illnesses also are at a threat to suffer hair loss in some way. But such illnesses or operations do cause physical and/or emotional stress, which is the main cause of this temporary hair loss.

Hair loss can be caused by some fungal infections. This possibility of hair loss applies to everybody who may suffer from such a condition, children included. Fungal infections such as this can be treated with some form of antifungal medication.

The final reason for hair loss to be discussed would be underlying causes, including, but not limited to lupus and diabetes. Since hair loss may be an early sign of a disease, it is important to consult a specialist to detect the cause so that it can be treated at an early stage.
