Effective Hair Care?

By Eric Huff

There are some who will argue that women's hair loss can be positively affected by adequate hair care. In some cases the best you can hope for is that the hair you won't lose will look as good as possible.

Your hair will thrive if your diet is healthy. You may not realize it, but a healthy diet will nourish your hair along with the rest of your body. Since your hair contains so much protein, you need to get enough of this in your diet. Ask your doctor which foods, vitamins and supplements will improve the health of your hair. Another nutrient that might help is iron. You may need more keratin or Vitamin D. After consulting with a doctor, you may end up with a whole new way of eating.

Switching your brands of shampoo and conditioner a lot is not a good idea, either. It doesn't really matter why so many women want to change from one brand to the next. Believe it or not but it can cause stress to your hair, plus your scalp, for many different reasons.

Any kind of pulling puts a lot of stress on your hair follicles and scalp, and it will thereby weaken your hair. If you do that too much for too long you can begin shedding a lot of hair. Just make things a little bit looser, and you'll be doing your hair a tremendous favor.

This should not need to be said, yet we will - combing your hair every day is extremely important. Depending on your type of hair, if you have to use a brush, then use it every day. What you want to do is prevent any matting of your hair because that can cause oily clogging of your follicles. Dreadlocks may look cool to you but they are not good for your scalp and are a good way to invite conditions that cause women's hair loss.

It's true that hair care can take a back seat on the scale of importance. If your hair begins to thin, you may not always stop and think about your shampoo. As stated before, hair care will not solve all hair loss conditions, but it can help with others. However it is effective for prolonging the loss of hair, sometimes. For peace of mind, perhaps talk to your doctor as well as your hair care professional.
