How to Deal With Women's Hair Loss

By Eric Huff

Men and Women are both often traumatized by the discovery of their hair loss. If you are a man, however, people have been coming up with ways to help you cope with the loss of your hair for years. There are fewer options available for women in the same situation however. Only recently have women begun to actively seek help. Since "coming out" about the fact that women experience hair loss as well, more and more coping methods have been developed. Believe it or not, now there are more coping methods for women's hair loss than there are for men's hair loss. Read on for more information on the options available for women dealing with hair loss.

Fashion is your friend! Men definately have fewer options for covering up hair loss. Women however only need a scarf! Scarfs are great for hiding hair loss and are available in many colors. If you can imagine it you can probably find a scarf to match it. Some scarfs are relativel small in size. You could use something that looks more like a hooded shawl. The choices are endless. No man alive (that i've met anyhow) would be willing to even try that!

Shaving your head is one possibility, though it may shock some people!

Be careful with you hair. Some women are ruthless when it comes to their hair. They dye it frequently, they put an exorbitant amount of product in it, they use lousy brushes and heat-these are all factors that can add to your hair loss.

Propecia is frequently suggested to men who want to battle their hair loss. Rest assured, it is one of two medications approved by the FDA for men (Rogaine is the other one) who want to regrow their hair. The FDA has not blessed it for use in women. Obviously, this does not mean you are prohibited from being able to use it. Research has brought forth some favorable outcomes with this drug. Truth be told, the side effects of the drug that men think are aggravating (especially the lowered libido) do not seem to happen for women. The way women cope with hair loss varies quite a bit. Some women are able to lose their hair without much fuss, and they simply accept it. Other women will do anything they can to hold onto their hair. You will know which approach is right for you. Before you start taking a bunch of pills, however, it is a good idea to talk to your doctor. Your doctor can help you come up with a workable plan to diagnose your particular situation and find a solution.
