Preventing Women's Hair Loss with Proper Hair Care

By Elena Lopes

It seems the debate is still on about whether or not proper hair care will stop women's hair loss. Sadly, for so many women they just have to try to make the remaining hair look as good as possible.

Always do your best to dry your hair because it's fragile when wet. Never wring excess water from your hair because it's fragile and you're hurting it. Women who have long hair are often tempted to simply wring their hair dry (in an effort to speed up the process). You'll be breaking your hair, and we know you don't want to do that. Another possibility is you will be weakening your hair follicles while at the same time pulling out hair. The alternative is to take a towel and squeeze out the water and/or pat it down. After that, just let it air dry. These negative practices add-up, and they can be a possible cause for hair loss in some women.

Keep your hair moisturized. Avoid letting your hair become brittle through improper amounts of moisture. Regular use of a high quality conditioner for your hair can prevent brittleness. However if you have oily hair, then you'll want to use an herbal rinse in the place of a conditioner. Using conditioner on oily hair only serves to weigh the hair down - and that will not look good. Actually, what happens is due to the excess weight on your hair, the follicles become weakened. If you'd like more information on that subject, just talk to your hair stylist next time. Another excellent practice is to massage your scalp when you wash your hair. The best way to do that is with your fingertips, the pads of them, and then use firm pressure - but don't overdo the pressure. Better still is having your partner or significant other perform this for you. Not only does it feel great, but you'll be improving the circulation of blood in your scalp, and that will help to increase your rate of hair growth. We all know a good massage is a great way to relax, and too much stress for too long can help to promote women's hair loss.

Get your hair cut regularly by a qualified stylist. We cannot say with certainty that your hair will be healthier if you do this. What everyone can agree upon is that it helps your hair look good. If you are struggling with women's hair loss, you have to consider the importance of this. Don't you want the hair you still have to look as attractive as possible? Another reason for regular trims and haircuts is that your stylist may be able to identify the early signs of hair loss so that you can get in to see your doctor about it before it gets too out of control. Then you may be able to avoid it altogether!

Hair care seems like such a trivial thing, especially where women's hair loss is concerned. Shampoo is not always immediately suspected when hair loss or other problems occur. While proper care of your hair cannot stop the hair loss in all women, it really can do wonders for some conditions. It is also the best way to hold off the hair loss for as long as possible. If you're concerned about it, then the best thing is to talk to medical and hair professionals.
