Causes and Prevention on Hair Loss on Women

Hair loss in women is not as frequent as men, but can be even more stressful for women. Two of every three women experience hair loss at some point in their lives, but it is rare that women go completely bald. There are many causes of hair loss in women and the need to identify these causes in order to find the best remedy for this problem.

Hair loss can be caused by any of the following factors:

Hormonal changes in a woman's body are the most common cause of female hair loss. Pregnancy, the onset of menopause, or birth control pills can greatly affect a woman's hormones. Hair thinning may occur immediately or within a few months following the change. This condition is temporary and hair will grow back after some time.

Genetics: hair loss could be hereditary and may start after puberty. Nevertheless, generally begins in the late 30's and can speed up the onset of menopause.

Stress: Many women suffer from loss of hair experience stress. Shock to the system makes the hair to enter the resting stage prematurely. This causes the hair begins to fall. Stress can to be caused by a high fever, illness or major surgery, severe infection, chronic illness, crash diets with adequate protein, and many medications.

Drug treatments or supplements: Chemotherapy is treating most common drugs that cause hair loss in women. Certain medications can also cause thinning of hair. Cholesterol anticoagulant drugs, dietary supplements and medicines for high blood pressure can also cause hair loss in women.

Hair Loss Prevention: If you know what is causing hair loss, it is easier towards finding a cure or a means to prevent hair loss. If a particular drug is the cause of hair loss, your doctor may prescribe another medication. A doctor can prescribe treatment to correct the hormonal imbalance. After the hormone levels return to hair loss generally pauses and the healthy hair will soon begin to grow again.

A crash diet can lead to loss of hair. Women should avoid crash dieting as this is unhealthy. A sensible diet that includes plenty of fruits and vegetables coupled with regular exercise can lead to a healthy lifestyle and prevent hair loss.

Massaging the scalp can also prevent excessive hair loss, stimulating blood flow to hair follicles. Often, hair loss in women is temporary and full hair growth can be achieved over time. Nevertheless, it is important to keep the body healthy nutritious foods and exercising regularly
