Women's Hair Loss - The Numbers Are Surprising

By Eric Huff

Women's hair loss is attributed to a variety of causes, and it's also a lot more common than you might think. While it is true that male baldness commands more attention than hair loss in women, the latter happens almost just as much as it does in men. Why so much more attention given to hair loss in men?

Have you ever seen a commercial on TV about hair loss in women? One thing for sure is that there are multiple causes for thinning in females. Ok, we'll share some thoughts and facts about thinning hair in women.

There are certain medications that affect whether or not a woman gets to keep her hair. So many women undergo chemotherapy treatment, and that's one thing that will do it. There are certain classes of medication that will have a certain kind of effect on a woman, and the end result is hair loss. But some experiences are not of direct hair loss. Sometimes the medications impede the growth of new hair. This can make it look like a woman is suffering from hair loss when she is actually suffering from no hair growth. It's hard to tell the difference between the two.

One of the first things a doctor will ask you about when you ask them to check into your hair loss is "how much stress are you under?" The degree and type of stress in your life will have an effect on hair growth and loss. High stress that is chronic can cause increased rate of hair loss in some women. But still, for other women it isn't that but rather a slowing down in the growth rate. One simple method for relaxation is to practice deep, relaxed breathing. You just need to find, or make, time to relax each and every day, even if it's for a short time. As you know, as well, relaxation is good for many other reasons in addition to healthy hair.

Naturally, if a mother doesn't know about this it can be a little bit startling. But be patient about it because all things with your hair will return to normal after your body calms down and does the same. All you need to do is be patient and try not to freak out too much.

What is known is that women suffer from hair loss for a multitude of reasons. You're not alone if you are suffering from hair loss, and it's imporant to learn more because there are some options open to you. Just as many women lose their hair as men do. You can learn much more from your doctor as well as find out your options. Just realize that you can often do something about it which will empower you.
