Effective Hair Care?

By Eric Huff

Is is possible to stop women's hair loss by taking good care of your hair? This is not a question that can be answered with certainty. In some cases this is not true. No matter how well you treat your hair, it won't stop hair loss if you have a genetic predisposition for this. What it can do is make sure that the hair you have left is healthy and well maintained. For many women, maintaining a healthy scalp and hair can go a long way in preventing hair loss. Not many women, whoever they might be, find the prospect of losing their hair very pleasant. Let's examine a few important rules of hair care to help you keep your hair healthy.

A healthy diet is essential for hair care. Your hair actually needs nutrients just like the rest of you, so your diet is important. You need a sufficient amount of protein, as your hair is actually made of this to a large extent. If you want to learn about how to keep your hair well nourished, consult with a doctor about what foods and supplements to take. Iron is something else you may need to increase. You may need more keratin or Vitamin D. After consulting with a doctor, you may end up with a whole new way of eating.

Proper hair moisture is important. The less moisture you have, the more brittle your hair becomes. Regular use of a high quality conditioner for your hair can prevent brittleness. For those who have excess oil in their hair, then the thing to do is substitute an herbal rinse in place of the conditioner. But if you still continue using the conditioner on oily hair, then what you'll discover is it acts to weigh down your hair, plus it will not look very good to you. You will weaken your hair follicles with chronic excess weight on your hair and scalp. If you'd like more information on that subject, just talk to your hair stylist next time. When you wash your hair, only use shampoo after your hair is thoroughly wet. Shampoo, believe it or not, is made up of some pretty harsh chemicals. The water in your shower helps keep your hair protected from most of them. If shampoo gets on dry hair it will still get it clean but it could also break down your hair a little bit too much. Unless you want to experience women's hair loss in the near future, be sure to get your hair completely wet before using shampoo.

It goes without saying that some hair care products are of a much better quality than others. You also realize that the cheap hair care products are like that for a good reason. Of course we understand very well that some are limited by budget, but try to do your research and buy the best you can afford. A shampoo that costs only ninety nine cents probably doesn't even get your hair clean. There is a reason stylists reach for certain shampoos and products when you visit them (and it is not always to make more money from you). If you can afford it, use the same things your stylist uses.

Hair care seems like such a trivial thing, especially where women's hair loss is concerned. Shampoo is not always immediately suspected when hair loss or other problems occur. While hair care might not stop all causes of hair loss, it can certainly prevent at least some of them. You will, however, be able to prevent it from happening for a longer period. But we'll always tell you to talk to your family doctor, and of course a professional hair stylist.
