Known Reasons and Causes For Women's Hair Loss

By Eric Huff

Everyone understands very well that hair loss for men is a very difficult condition to deal with. But the thing is that so many people, especially men, have no idea that women experience hair loss, and the impact is equally dramatic on them when it happens. This is something that women of all countries have to deal with, as well. Women in Western societies especially have an extremely hard time with coping with hair loss. One huge contributor is the idea that hair loss should never happen with women, plus popular culture and the media only act to perpetuate that thinking. The processes of balding and thinning are very difficult for a woman to cope with. There is an equal amount of hair loss incidence in both genders. We'd like to share some conditions that contribute to hair loss in women.

It may not be much of a surprise to know that some medications will directly cause women to lose their hair. Many people already are aware that chemotherapy spells hair loss in women. Others cause hair to fall out because of the way the medication interacts with a woman's body chemistry. In other cases, the hair will not always fall out. Sometimes the medications impede the growth of new hair. This can make it look like a woman is suffering from hair loss when she is actually suffering from no hair growth. It's hard to tell the difference between the two.

The medical community is well aware of the significant role that stress can have with women's hair loss. Certain stress factors will definitely come into play as it effects how much your hair grows and is lost. It just depends, really, but it's the experience of some women that they will lose more hair with high stress. Yet, other women will not have that problem, but they will experience a slower amount of hair growth. Taking deep calming breaths can help to relax you and calm you down. No matter what is in your life, make time to relax each day even if it's only ten minutes. We all know the importance of frequent relaxation because it's something out bodies need.

Women's hair loss is also largely due to her genetic background. It depends on who in your family carries the gene, so it's possible to get a good idea about whether or not you will become susceptible. This is hard for many women to accept because it is one of the few causes of women's hair loss that they can do nothing about. Women who fall into this category suffer from high levels of humiliation. For these women the only alternative is to explore ways to conceal the hair loss, or get transplants.

Women's hair loss isn't as widely publicized as it is with men's hair loss. Maybe this is because women are not "supposed" to lose hair unless they choose to remove it voluntarily. However it is probably true that women are much more embarrassed about this and may not seek help with it. This will change though, we certainly do hope. Research, time, and public awareness will hopefully shed more light on this area.
