Awareness of Women's Hair Loss

By Elena Lopes

The reasons for male hair loss are well-documented. Women are just as susceptible to hair loss as men. It is believed by some researchers that women can be even more prone to hair loss. So why is there not as much attention given to women's hair loss as there is to men's hair loss? We cannot provide a good answer for that. But we can talk about some of the reasons for women's hair loss. So please continue reading this article to discover more.

There are certain medications that affect whether or not a woman gets to keep her hair. One widely known procedure, chemotherapy, will cause this to happen. Chemical interaction between the female body and other medications will cause this to happen, as well. Direct hair loss, falling out, is not always the effect in some instances. So what happens is that the cycle of hair growth is interrupted, and it stops growing. When that happens, it will still look like her hair has fallen out. It's hard to tell the difference between the two.

If you have hair loss, consider how much stress you are under in your life because that can be a contributor to hair loss. The amount of hair growth and loss you experience is influenced by the stress in your life. High stress that is chronic can cause increased rate of hair loss in some women. However, a reduced rate of hair growth is the reaction mechanism for other women. You can help yourself to relax throughout your day by simply doing relaxed and deep breathing. You just need to find, or make, time to relax each and every day, even if it's for a short time. We all know the importance of frequent relaxation because it's something out bodies need.

The pattern seems to be that there isn't really a discernable pattern. There's another condition that can produce hair loss and that is anemia. Lots of women face at least mild anemia because of their biological cycles. This is why women's vitamins will often contain enough iron to help them exceed their daily recommended intake of the iron. Iron deficiency is usually something that can be counteracted with diet and exercise and lifestyle choices. Before you try to correct your iron deficiency on your own, you should talk to your doctor. A blood test is the only way that anemia can be positively diagnosed. Some people have it so severely that they need to treat it with medication. The recommended course of action is to seek professional medical help.

Ok, so women's hair loss so far does not get an equal amount of media attention as is given for men. Obviously, women have hair loss and hair problems for a lot of reasons, and not all are completely understood.

Women suffer hair loss and thinning for many reasons. You're not alone if you are suffering from hair loss, and it's imporant to learn more because there are some options open to you. Women and men have equality when it comes to hair loss. You can find out what you can do about it from your family doctor. Just realize that you can often do something about it which will empower you.
