Women's Hair Loss - Why Does It Happen?

The reasons for male hair loss are well-documented. Women can go through the same thing when it comes to hair loss. There is some research that suggests that women can be more inclined to experiencing hair loss. Why then, do we not hear as much about women's hair loss as we do about the various hair loss afflictions that affect men? We cannot provide a good answer for that. Why are there not commercials and programs dedicated to the hair loss of women? What is known about this is there could be a variety of reasons for thinning hair in women. Continue reading to discover some of the reasons why a woman's hair may begin to thin.

Another situation that can adversely effect a woman's hair is pregnancy. While some women enjoy increased hair growth, others deal with the opposite. After childbirth, the hair will begin to shed pretty fast for the women who experienced more hair growth.

The pattern seems to be that there isn't really a discern able pattern. Female hormones can cause this kind of situation, as well. Hormones that are not in a state of balance can can any number of reactions. Energy levels can be affected as well as moods and weight. As far as hair is concerned, there can be thinning, loss, or it can stop growing. The recommended course of action is to always see a doctor if you begin to detect changes similar to what we've discussed. Your doctor will need to measure your various hormone levels, and then he or she can tell you the best course of action.

However, for some women, there is an interruption of that cycle, and it's caused for genetic reasons. There are no known genetic engineering based treatments for that condition. Yet there is hope because the hair will grow again, the cycle experiences some interference, and it seems to occur on its own. While embarrassing, there are definite approaches to cope with it.

Men's hair loss is much more widely discussed than women's hair loss. It's hard to say why this is so. It is perfectly understandable that most women are probably too embarrassed to seek help with this condition. We can only hope that this will change in time. Research, time, and public awareness will hopefully shed more light on this area.
